WATERFRONT TECHNOLOGY CENTER TENANT AWARDED MILITARY TECHNOLOGY CONTRACTS TOTALING $53.3 MILLION
Firm’s Continued Growth Marks Industry Shift Toward Smaller, More Agile Defense Contractors
Camden, N.J. (April 17, 2006) - Gestalt, an international consulting firm providing consulting, technology, and managed services to the defense and energy and utilities industries, today announced that it has been awarded several multi-year government contracts with a ceiling of $53.3 million. The contracts cover technology-related programs to benefit mission-critical military operations for the United Sates Air Force and the Joint Forces Command of the United States. They are the latest in a series of high profile contracts for Gestalt. The scope and nature of the awards point to an ongoing diversification trend in the defense sector, as smaller, more agile contractors continue to secure larger, higher profile projects regularly.
“In today’s net-centric military world, there is a constant need for new technology functionality and contractors have to be nimble enough to keep up,” said William Loftus, President and CEO, Gestalt. “We’re seeing a new military mindset emerge where contractor efficiency and agility are at a premium. Like most companies with roots in private sector business, our processes are already geared toward that kind of environment. We’re confident that our experience and ability in both sectors will continue to drive our growth and success going forward, and we are proud to be headquartered in New Jersey, where there is a commitment to support growing enterprises like Gestalt that provide high-paying jobs.”
“Gestalt serves as a tremendous example to emerging technology companies in New Jersey or anywhere for the matter,” said Congressman Rob Andrews (D-NJ). “The company is breaking new ground from a business standpoint, while creating new military technologies that are critical to national defense. We’re proud to have them as part of Camden’s growing technology community.”
The contracts, which will be carried out over the next 2 years, support multiple simultaneous initiatives designed to promote more efficient and effective command and control systems and training operations in the military’s emerging net-centric environment.
Specifically, Gestalt will expand upon its Distributed Mission Interoperability Tool Kit (DMIT), a custom software solution that facilitates the sharing of critical command and control information between branches of the military in a way that was never before possible. Through this technology, command and control center operators can now instantly access information from disparate military systems that was previously accessible only via less sophisticated methods. That access creates better decision-making capabilities and enables more rapid and accurate responses.
Additionally, Gestalt will also expand the Scenario Generation Server (SGS), a software solution that provides a scalable, deployable scenario initialization framework. With this framework, the military’s distributed mission operations communities can expand and improve the capability to perform scenario generation that enhances the effectiveness and realism of the training environment while reducing costs and timelines and increasing accuracy.
In line with the military’s emphasis on agility, Gestalt has developed Pathfinder™, a phased implementation and feedback process designed to increase project efficiency and accuracy. Through this process, Gestalt will deliver new functionality to the Air Force on these projects within 60 days. This type of tangible outcome could take years in a typical military delivery process cycle.
As Gestalt has grown, it has received strong support from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) and the Camden Economic Recovery Board (ERB). In March 2006, the EDA awarded Gestalt a Business Employment Incentive Program (BEIP) grant and in January 2006, the ERB approved a 5-4-3-2-1 lease incentive grant.
